As Part B News reported, last month's the Bipartisan Budget Act fixed some problems with GPCIs in 52 localities and claims that exceeded the therapy cap nationwide that reduced payments for thousands of providers. Yesterday CMS officially acknowleged those changes.

Part B News editors surveyed readers and interviewed experts to come up with numerous predictions of what will affect physician practices in 2018. Here's a sneak peek at one of the predictions related to new codes coming down the pike in 2018 -- and what you may expect -- with the remainder of the predictions coming in the Jan. 1, 2018, issue.

Medical practices that run labs are in for fluctuating reimbursement come Jan. 1, with 897 lab codes in line for a 10% dip in payment and another 109 codes seeing a pay boost of 10% or more.
The therapy cap exception process – due to expire at the end of this year – may be extended permanently, though physicians may be paying for it with reductions to their Medicare fees.
The slight increase in the conversion factor means little or no change in reimbursement for most of your E/M codes and other high volume services – with two exceptions.
